Fabiano was born in Ilhéus, a very small town in Bahia-Brazil, where he grew up showing his strong artistic tendency. This talent was not fully exploited until he moved to the big city of Salvador, the capital of Bahia, where he graduated getting his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design with Major in Graphic Design, a career that he practiced throughout his whole life. While at the UNEB (Universidade do Estado da Bahia) he had the opportunity to take many art related selective classes such as, photography, painting in several medias, video, etc. On his first approach to watercolor he felt deeply attracted to it, but as many know, watercolor could be a very unforgiving media for a beginner artist, and in order to release his frustration he moved on to other medias such as oil, acrylic, pastel, etc. But the love for watercolor was forever planted in his heart.
In Salvador, Fabiano worked as a graphic designer producing hundreds of designs for a local clothing manufacturer for many years, only leaving there to go to work for a well known advertising agency, where he would then have the opportunity to fulfill his other aspirations and growth. Working there he also had the pleasure of participating in the creation of many successful advertising pieces.
Moving to the USA in the early 2000, living initially in San Diego California, he started a new life facing the struggles of any other immigrant, trying now to adapt to a new language and culture. While visiting Florida, Fabiano saw a great resemblance with the tropical life near the ocean he was used to in Brazil, choosing now Miami to be his permanent residence and this became a never ending love story with this beautiful town.
Here in Miami he continues his career as a Graphic Designer, but now his passion is divided between the creative side and managing the intricate systems behind the traditional offset presses, digital presses as well as all other possible equipment he can put his devotion to.
Recently, Fabiano decided to take his artistic career where he left many years ago, and he was surprisingly welcomed into the Miami art world. He first joined the Miami Watercolor Society and there he also found the support to pursue his first love and never forgotten, the magical world of watercolors.
Always taking photos to be used as reference in his work, Fabiano’s style is a mix between realism and expressionism, creating the differential edge from his work in oil that was many times misunderstood as plain photos due to the hyperrealism of the pieces.
With the guidance of new friends from the Miami Watercolor Society, Fabiano was invited to local shows, where he was blessed to receive his first awards as an watercolorist in the USA.
Living by the good values and finding in his family the support and motivation, Fabiano finds in his wife, Liza, the understanding and main support to his new ideas and endeavors.
